FROM TRANSLATOR TO SEO SPECIALIST: Why I Combine Both

I trained as a translator, and today I combine languages and SEO to help brands grow in various markets. Let me tell you about my journey and why I do what I do.

FROM TRANSLATOR TO SEO SPECIALIST: Why I Combine Both

The Origin of My Passion for Languages and Translation

My relationship with languages began long before university. As a child, I had a close example of what it meant to move between languages and cultures, and that was my first inspiration: I understood, without yet being able to put it into words, that speaking other languages gave me access to worlds that would otherwise have been out of reach.

Years later, at secondary school, that curiosity took a different shape. It was with Latin and Greek that I discovered what I was truly passionate about wasn’t just speaking other languages, but understanding how they work from the inside: their logic, their structure, their mechanics. That was when I decided I wanted to build a career around what I was truly passionate about, and that was Translation.

Why I Made the Leap into SEO

During my degree, I started noticing something I didn’t want to admit: the market many of my lecturers had trained in was disappearing, and the space for working purely as a translator was shrinking. Even so, I kept building my expertise — I wanted to specialise in fields with highly specific language, and I also experienced translation from the outside, improving my languages first-hand.

So, rather than forcing a path with less and less room to grow, I started looking for something to complement what I already knew how to do. That’s how I brought SEO into my work: a way of making sure content wasn’t just well translated, but also visible to those who needed it.

Translation + SEO: An Uncommon Combination

This is where it gets interesting. Multilingual SEO — ranking content in several languages without losing quality or naturalness — is territory very few professionals cover well. It’s easy to find translators who don’t know SEO, and easy to find SEO specialists who translate using automated tools without paying attention to cultural or linguistic nuance. It’s far rarer to find someone who’s genuinely skilled at both.

This combination makes the most sense for businesses that sell, or want to sell, in several countries: brands going international, online shops with multilingual catalogues, companies that need their content not just translated, but working in every market.

What to Expect from This Blog

This space will reflect exactly that combination: I’ll be writing about languages, SEO, and everything where the two overlap. If you run a business that wants to grow beyond your native language, or you’re simply curious about this world, you’re in the right place.
